Sunrisers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings have everything to play for when they meet at MA Chidambaram Stadium on Monday with playoff qualification hanging in the balance for both sides.

SRH have had a turbulent recent run, losing two of their last three games, including a shocking 82-run collapse against Gujarat Titans where they had restricted their opponents to 168 before folding for just 86. Pat Cummins’ side has the points but has lacked consistency at the worst possible time.

CSK have had their own troubles. Injuries have ravaged their squad with Jamie Overton missing out. Ruturaj Gaikwad would be counting senior member’s like Sanju Samson to rescue the mission.

Both teams need victory desperately. Chepauk, traditionally a slow surface, has played as a genuine batting track this season, so runs are expected. This one has all the ingredients of a classic.

This game is genuinely tough to call. SRH have the firepower to dismantle any attack on their day, and their pace duo of Praful Hinge and Sakib Hussain has already beaten CSK once this season.

However, Chepauk has been a fortress for the home side all campaign, with the crowd, the conditions and the familiarity all favouring CSK. Sanju Samson has been in frightening form, and with their backs firmly against the wall, Chennai have historically risen to the occasion. Expect a close contest, but CSK to find a way through.
