Texas A&M’s pursuit of several priority prospects in the 2027 recruiting class, including five-star cornerback John Meredith, who, after receiving an early prediction to land with the Aggies, is now slightly favored to commit to the Texas Longhorns ahead of his official visit to Austin (TX) this summer.
Just weeks after Meredith’s prediction to Texas, the Aggies gained a prediction and plenty of momentum to gain a commitment from fellow five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson, who will head to College Station for his OV on June 5. However, coach Mike Elko and his staff will not stop pursuing John Meredith, who is currently taking part in this weekend’s Nike-sponsored The Opening event at Ford Center in Frisco, Texas.
Meredith is scheduled to take his Texas A&M official visit next weekend, and before making the trek to College Station, the blue-chip defender stated to AggieYell insider Joseph Hastings that Texas A&M has been there since “day one” and will continue to play a significant role in his final decision, no matter how much progress the Longhorns have made.
Meredith’s relationship with Mike Elko and new cornerbacks coach, Bryant Gross-Armiento, continues to be the driving force behind the Aggies’ early momentum in his recruitment. Still, College Station’s appeal has yet to taper off, as Hastings asked Meredith about the feeling he gets every time he makes his way to campus.
“It feels great,” Meredith stated. “Home, it feels like home. It comes with the ins and outs.”
While Elko and Gross-Armiento still have plenty of work ahead of them to land Meredith’s commitment, making this weekend’s OV absolutely critical.
