Johnny Manziel, the former NFL quarterback, made a successful MMA debut, defeating Bob Menery at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas on Saturday, May 23.
The 2012 Heisman Trophy winner made quick work of his opponent, earning a first-round victory by referee stoppage. Manziel had managed to deliver several strikes to the face of Menery, who also lost his mouthpiece in the process.
So, who in the heck is Bob Menery?
He’s an influencer with 2.8 million followers on Instagram and did not instill fear during the weigh-in with Manziel.
Menery, 38, reportedly is no taller than 5-9 and weighs in at about 190 pounds. Manziel, 33, stands 6-0 and reportedly tipped the scales at about 205 pounds.
Menery might be more comfortable calling the fight than participating in it. He’s a sportscaster whose fame peaked when he called a game for the Salt Lake Screaming Eagles of the Indoor Football League. He produces comedic videos, too.
