Barcelona have been told it’s “impossible” for Julian Alvarez to stay at Atletico Madrid next season as talk of a move to Camp Nou continues.

Reporter Gaston Edul has been chatting about the situation and says he is confident that “it’s very difficult or almost impossible for Julián to play for Atlético de Madrid next season.”

Edul says PSG are still interested but that Alvarez’s priority remains to go to Barcelona even if the offer if financially lower.

Alvarez’s name is also all over the headlines once again in Spain on Monday. Mundo Deportivo report that Barcelona have submitted a 100 million euro bid despite Atletico’s fury last week and strong denial that an offer had been made.

Reporter Veronica Brunati is also talking about Alvarez in a post on X :

“FC Barcelona and Julián Álvarez’s agent had proposed a meeting for today. But Atlético de Madrid rejected it. ‘The player is not for sale. He has an active contract and we are Very happy with him.’ They are counting on Julián Álvarez for the 2026/27 season.

“Barça knows that Atlético is not willing to negotiate under the conditions they propose. Arsenal and PSG, monitoring the situation.”

Barcelona’s pursuit of Alvarez has already turned into a saga and looks set to dominate the headlines throughout the summer.
