La operación militar de EE UU del pasado 3 de enero para detener y sacar de Venezuela al entonces presidente Nicolás Maduro ha provocado en el país sudamericano una transición política que la justicia española quiere aprovechar. El juez de la Audiencia Nacional Francisco de Jorge ha librado una comisión rogatoria (petición de auxilio judicial) a las autoridades de Caracas para que le faciliten información sobre 14 miembros de ETA huidos que supuestamente se refugian en su territorio, entre ellos Iñaki de Juana Chaos.
