NBA executives say John Blackwell made correct decision

Speculation on John Blackwell’s future was put to rest last week as the former Wisconsin guard officially withdrew from the NBA Draft, making his transfer to Duke official.

Looking back on the decision, many draft experts think Blackwell made the right choice. Recently, basketball analyst John Goodman interviewed 10 NBA executives, asking them which players should stay in the draft and which should return to school. Blackwell was among the players asked about, and the results were unanimous.

Of the 10 scouts polled, all of them advised Blackwell to return to school for his senior season. This lines up with the league’s consensus, as Blackwell was predicted to go undrafted (ranked outside the top-80 prospects).

Now, officially a Blue Devil, Blackwell will have another year to improve his draft stock while Duke hunts for another NCAA title.
