Steve Kerr has dominated the discussion of Golden State’s offseason, as the 12-year head coach seems to be nearing a departure.
That said, he and the team have not yet met to make a final decision.
But, according to NBA insider Brett Siegel, that decision could play a key role pertaining to the future of 19-year veteran Al Horford.
“One of the main reasons Horford picked the Dubs was to contend for a title at the end of his career. If Kerr leaves and the Dubs look to reset the roster around Curry, the chances of Horford opting out and becoming a free agent increase tenfold,” said Siegel.
While Horford didn’t provide All-Star numbers to Golden State during the 2025-26 season, his professionalism and championship pedigree would certainly be missed if he were to depart.
Not to mention, Horford came through when it mattered most, producing clutch buckets for the Warriors in their Play-In victory over the Los Angeles Clippers.
The former five-time All-Star has not yet ruled out retirement either.
