Levski Sofia’s incredible title triumph ended the club’s 17-year wait for league glory and brought down the long-standing dominance of Ludogorets Razgrad.

When Oko-Flex arrived in January 2026 from Botev Plovdiv, Levski were already in a strong position at the top of the First Professional League table. But the title race was far from over. Ludogorets, champions for 14 straight seasons, were still lurking, ready to punish any slip.

Levski needed fresh energy, sharpness in wide areas, and a player capable of changing tight games. Oko-Flex proved to be exactly that player.

The Nigerian-eligible winger made an instant impact. On February 7, 2026, he announced himself to the Levski supporters in style, scoring on his league debut in a confident 3-1 win over Botev Vratsa. His direct running, quick feet, and willingness to attack defenders gave Levski a new dimension.

Just weeks later, on February 22, he struck again in another 3-1 victory, this time away against CSKA 1948. That goal helped steady Levski during a crucial stretch of the season, keeping their title push firmly on track.

But Oko-Flex was not only about goals. On April 9, in a tense away fixture against Arda Kardzhali, he produced a moment of quality to set up the only goal of the game in a narrow 1-0 win. Matches like that – tight, tactical, and nervy – often decide championships.

Perhaps his most impressive display came on April 25 in the heated ‘Eternal Derby’ against rivals CSKA Sofia. Playing away from home in one of the most intense fixtures in Bulgarian football, Oko-Flex delivered a composed and intelligent performance, registering a key assist in a 3-1 victory that pushed Levski to the brink of glory.

Across the entire season, combining his time at Botev Plovdiv and Levski Sofia, he recorded 8 goals and 4 assists in 23 league starts.

Oko-Flex: Levski success to open Super Eagles doors?

The defining chapter of this story came on Saturday, May 2, at the iconic Georgi Asparuhov Stadium. Levski knew that a win against CSKA 1948 would mathematically secure the title.

Oko-Flex started the match on the wing and immediately looked dangerous, stretching the defence and forcing mistakes. Though he did not get on the scoresheet, his movement and energy kept the opposition under constant pressure.

The breakthrough finally arrived in the 71st minute when Marko Dugandžić found the net, sending the stadium into celebration. The 1-0 victory confirmed Levski as champions.

Levski’s triumph ended Ludogorets’ 14-year grip on Bulgarian football, a remarkable run that had shaped the league for over a decade. It is the club’s 27th league title, but their first since the 2008–09 season.

Under the guidance of Spanish coach Julio Velázquez, the team combined discipline with attacking flair. They finished the season with 24 wins, 4 draws, and just 4 defeats, while their home form was particularly dominant, winning 14 of 16 matches.

Brazilian forward Everton Bala led the scoring charts with 17 goals, but it was the collective strength of the squad and the timely impact of players like Oko-Flex that made the difference.

Oko-Flex’s excellent performance in Belgium could attract international attention this summer.

The Arsenal-trained attacker remains eligible to play for Nigeria, Republic of Ireland, and England. He played for both European nations at youth level but with no senior competitive caps tying him down, the door is open for a switch.

The Nigeria Football Federation has reportedly shown interest, and after a season like this – full of big moments, decisive contributions, and title-winning influence – his case is growing stronger.

Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle is expected to hand a few call-ups to Nigeria-eligible players this month ahead of the Unity Cup in England. And it could be time for Oko-Flex to also make his mark at senior international level.
