NY Mets announce lineup vs Mariners for today. Can they avoid sweep?

In the first two games of their series against the Mariners, the Mets have learned a hard lesson about the opposing pitching staff.

After being held to two hits on Monday night, the Mets’ lone damage on Tuesday in a 8-3 loss came on a pair of Carson Benge home runs – the rookie’s first multi-home run game of his career

The Mariners offense, meanwhile, erupted against the likes of Huascar Brazoban and Jonah Tong, with seven runs in the first five innings.

Now, the Mets will be looking to avoid a three-game sweep in the series finale at 3:40 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon at T-Mobile Park.

With the Mets seeing their four-game win streak cut into over the last two nights, they enter the afternoon at 26-35 and back in the basement of the NL East. The Mariners have won eight straight games.

NY Mets, Mariners probable starting pitchers for Wednesday

Freddy Peralta has hit a bit of a rough patch in his last two starts against the Marlins.

Despite working a season-high seven innings and striking out nine batters on May 23, Peralta allowed four earned runs on eight hits and two walks. He followed it up by lasting 4⅔ innings, giving up four runs (two earned) on seven hits and two walks last time out.

Peralta enters Wednesday’s start with a 3-4 record, 3.55 ERA and 1.30 WHIP.

George Kirby will be making his 13th start of the season for the Mariners. The 28-year-old right-hander is 5-4 with a 3.77 ERA and 1.22 WHIP. He allowed four earned runs in 5⅔ innings in his most recent start against the Diamondbacks.
