Olympique Lyon manager confirms Brazilian phenom will return to Real Madrid: ‘It will be difficult’

Real Madrid are set to see wholesale changes in June, and with Jose Mourinho set to come in, a lot will change in terms of the attitude and the brand of football.

At this point, it thus remains unclear as to whom the club will target as summer signings, especially with the new manager expected to have a massive say in the same.

One player who will arrive back at the club, however, is Endrick, and the club are said to have even informed him that he will have a big part to play in the first team next season.

Lyon manager speaks

Olympique Lyon manager Paulo Fonseca spoke to the media via MARCA ahead of his team’s final Ligue 1 outing of the season and addressed a plethora of topics, one of which was Endrick’s future.

Speaking on the Real Madrid star’s next move and whether he will stay with the French giants for one more season, the manager said,

“It will be difficult for Endrick to stay here. Real Madrid will undoubtedly want him back. That is normal.”

Fonseca then elaborated on how it was only fitting that Endrick was returning to Madrid given the quality he has.

“After what he showed here, he has proven he has the quality to be a Real Madrid player.”

Evaluating Endrick’s spell

Real Madrid sent the Brazilian protege out on loan to ensure he garners adequate minutes under his belt to further his development. In that sense, the loan move was a success.

The teenage Brazilian sensation made 13 starts and 15 appearances in half the season for Lyon, scoring five goals and providing seven assists in the process.

While he started strong, the player hit a dry patch in between where he struggled to make a difference in the final third. Recent weeks, however have seen him find his stride again with two goals and three assists in his last five appearances.
