Paris Saint-Germain may have moved away from the era of superstar excess, but their journey to a second consecutive UEFA Champions League final proves they still possess world-class brilliance when it matters most.
Under manager Luis Enrique, PSG have developed into a disciplined and relentless side built on teamwork, structure and intensity. Yet the influence of stars like Ousmane Dembele and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia continues to define their European dominance.
After surviving a thrilling first-leg encounter in Paris, PSG travelled to the Allianz Arena expecting heavy pressure from Bayern Munich. Instead, the French champions struck early and seized control of the tie almost immediately.
Just three minutes into the game, Fabian Ruiz split Bayern’s defence with a perfectly timed pass to Kvaratskhelia. The Georgian winger burst into space before cutting the ball back for Dembele, who hammered a stunning first-time finish beyond Manuel Neuer.
The goal shifted momentum firmly in PSG’s favour and highlighted the deadly connection between two of Europe’s most dangerous attackers.
While Dembele endured periods with limited involvement due to Bayern’s pressing intensity, the Frenchman once again delivered in a decisive moment. Beyond his goal, he also impressed with relentless defensive work and pressing from the front before being substituted shortly after the hour mark.
Kvaratskhelia, however, produced a complete performance filled with energy, creativity and determination. The Georgian repeatedly carried PSG forward on the counterattack despite signs of fatigue throughout the contest.
He won 11 of his 15 duels, completed six successful dribbles and registered 56 touches — more than every PSG player except Nuno Mendes.
The winger now boasts 10 goals and six assists in this season’s Champions League campaign and became the first player since the knockout-stage format change in 2003 to contribute to a goal in seven consecutive knockout matches.
PSG’s new generation is rapidly becoming one of the strongest in Europe, with players such as Achraf Hakimi, Vitinha, Desire Doue and Dembele leading the charge.
The Parisians will now face Arsenal in the Champions League final in Budapest on May 30 as they aim to become the first club since Real Madrid to successfully defend the European crown.
