The Texas Rangers made a notable roster move with a two-time World Series champion reliever on Monday.
According to the minor league baseball transaction log, the AL West club released right-hander Ryan Brasier from his contract.
The 38-year-old signed a minor league deal with the Rangers during the offseason but did not make an appearance in a Major League game. Instead, he threw 22.2 innings at Triple-A Round Rock and posted a 3.97 ERA with 23 strikeouts.
“Brasier’s track record and solid performance in Triple-A this year ought to earn him an opportunity with another organization before long — perhaps even a major league deal,” Steve Adams of MLB Trade Rumors wrote Tuesday.
Brasier won a World Series with the Boston Red Sox in 2018 and another one with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2024.

He was a key part of Boston’s bullpen for parts of six seasons and threw 26 innings with the Chicago Cubs in 2025.
Every team could use another arm in the bullpen, but Brasier’s postseason experience makes him an intriguing free agent addition, despite his advanced age in professional baseball.
