Steelers insider reveals Mike McCarthy’s instant impact on offense

The Pittsburgh Steelers underwent a massive face lift following the departure of Mike Tomlin and the arrival of Mike McCarthy — which leads one insider to believe major offensive shifts are already underway.

According to Steelers insider Mark Kaboly, McCarthy’s offensive-minded mentality was evident at OTAs, compared to how Tomlin ran his offenses.

“You could tell the difference offensively just through OTAs and just some of the scheme that they’re installing right now,” Kaboly said via 93.7 The Fan. “And they’re still early in the process. He pretty much knows what he’s doing, offensively.”

In his 18 years of head coaching experience, McCarthy has been responsible for some near-historic offenses, such as the Dallas Cowboys in 2021, who ranked No. 1 in total yards and scoring.

Expectations for McCarthy are sky-high heading into his first year as head coach of the Steelers, but the odds are in his favor as he trusts in an Aaron Rodgers-led offense with a completely overhauled roster.
