Things are never straightforward with Aaron Rodgers.
Reports emerged on Thursday that the future Hall of Fame QB was coming to Pittsburgh to visit with the Steelers this weekend. On Friday, though, GM Omar Khan basically said that he had no idea of such a plan.
Khan’s exact words in a Friday morning appearance were: “Yeah, you know, I don’t know where specifically Aaron is.”
The team counting on Rodgers to be its quarterback in 2026 doesn’t know where he is right now even as they try to get a contract done with him?
That’s definitely not ideal.

Sure, this could be as simple as not knowing whether Rodgers is in California or Colorado, for example. But it’s still odd optics after at least someone believed he was actually en route to Pittsburgh.
The Steelers can’t really afford to have Rodgers pass up a chance to play for them in the season ahead. That would leave them with a quarterback room of Mason Rudolph, Will Howard and Drew Allar.
Rodgers isn’t the player he once was, but he’s the best option the Steelers have.
“We continue to have conversations and they’re positive and, you know, we had a good experience with him last year, and, you know, I think he would probably echo the same thing and, you know, conversations continue,” Khan said.
Before Rodgers signed with the Steelers a year ago, the process dragged on a long time.
This time around it seemed like it might be simpler, but maybe not anymore.
