Top Arizona boys track and field athletes
1. Kelson Hogan, Tempe Corona del Sol, throws, Jr.
The former baseball player turned javelin thrower launched a new personal best, throwing 211 feet, 2 inches at the Tempe All-City Championships on April 21 to set the official state record and move up to No. 5 in the United States.
2. Dameon Brender, Mesa Red Mountain, sprints, Jr.
He won both the 100 and 200 meters at the Mesa City Championships on April 24, running 21.40 seconds for the 200 (setting the state lead) and 10.59 for the 100 (No. 2 in Arizona).
3. Colin Duffy, Tempe Corona del Sol, throws, Jr.
He won the discus at the Tempe All-City Championships on April 21, throwing 185-0 to set the state lead.
4. Matthew Heitz, Mesa Red Mountain, hurdles, Sr.
He won the 300-meter hurdles at the Mesa City Championships on April 24, running 37.45 to set the state lead.
5. Christian Hinton, Chandler Hamilton, sprints, Jr.
He won the 400 meters at the Chandler City Championships on April 22, running 48.17 to move up to No. 3 in the state.
6. Amare Holley, Mesa Red Mountain, sprints, Sr.
He came in second in the 100 at the Mesa City Championships on April 24, running 10.61 to move up to No. 3 in the state.
7. Austin Reese, Chandler, hurdles, Jr.
He won the 110-hurdles at the Chandler City Championships on April 22, running 14.16 to move up to No. 3 in the state.
8. Mason Aughe, Chandler Basha, throws, Sr.
He won the discus at the Chandler City Championships on April 22, throwing 181-8 to move up to No. 3 in the state.
9. Magnas Rohde, Tucson Salpointe Catholic, jumps, Jr.
He won the pole vault at the Southern Arizona Championships on April 24, clearing 15-9 to move up to No. 3 in the state.
10. Miles Woods, Phoenix Maryvale, jumps, Jr.
He won the high jump at the PXU Championships on April 22, clearing 6-6 to move up to No. 4 in the state.
11. Beckham Goodman, ALA Queen Creek, sprints, Sr.
He swept the 100, 200 and 400 at the ALA District Championship on April 25, running 48.22 in the 400 to move up to No. 4 in the state.
12. Malachi Joyner, Gilbert Williams Field, throws, Sr.
He won the discus at the Shaun Hardt True Grit Invitational on April 24, throwing 179-2 to move up to No. 4 in the state.
13. Jack Faber, Phoenix Desert Vista, jumps, So.
He won the pole vault at the Tempe All-City Championships on April 21, clearing 15-7 to move up to No. 4 in the state.
14. Robert Carney, Tombstone, throws, Sr.
He won the discus at the Southern Arizona Championships on April 24, throwing 169-11 to move up to No. 5 in the state.
15. Logan Lute, Chandler Basha, throws, Sr.
He won the javelin at the Chandler City Championships on April 22, throwing 189-5 to move up to No. 5 in the state.
