Memorial Day weekend traditionally serves as a showpiece for racing across the globe, with the Coca-Cola 600 serving as the finale of a trio of races.

NASCAR’s most grueling test will still hold down that spot Sunday, but this year’s edition will have a decidedly somber tone as drivers take the track with thoughts of Kyle Busch on everyone’s mind. The death of the two-time Cup Series champion earlier this week at a hospital near Charlotte Motor Speedway stunned the NASCAR community, but the race will go on as long as the weather holds up.

Austin Hill will step in and take Busch’s place in the starting grid, driving the No. 33 Chevrolet instead of Busch’s No. 8. He and Austin Dillon will represent Richard Childress Racing as they mourn their teammate, who won the 2018 edition of the race for his first victory at Charlotte.
